North Dorchester Skating Club

Annual Pop Concert

Monday, February 13, 2011

REGISTRATION FORM

Our Pop Concert is back for the year 2012!  Our NDSC skaters will have an opportunity to perform their solos, some for the first time ever in front of an audience!   One of the nicest things for the skaters is a chance to watch their fellow skaters perform in a simulation of a test or competition atmosphere.  Quite often skaters are busy preparing off the ice at test days or competitions and they don’t get a chance to watch each other.  This is a real TEAM BUILDING EVENT for our skaters as they watch each other and support one another!  Please come and join the North Dorchester Skating Club to watch our skaters perform!

All skaters in the  PrePreliminary, Junior, and Senior sessions are eligible to participate in the Skating Club’s Pop Concert.  Coaches of Canskaters may determine is a skater is ready to complete a solo for this presentation.  A Pop Concert is for skaters to be able to have a chance to perform their solos in front of an audience.   The purpose of this is to give skaters a chance to practice for tests and competitions that may be in February and March, and to give families, friends, and fellow-skaters a chance to come and watch the skaters perform all of the tricks they have been working on!   In addition to performing, each skater will receive positive feedback and tips for future performances from our coaches on his or her performance.  The skaters also get to wear their special outfit just one more time!  We hope that every skater will come and have some fun and participate in the Pop Concert this skating year!

Tips for Skaters on the Day of the Performance:

Skaters should be in their skating outfits, have hair done, skates clean, and be completely ready at least 30 minutes prior to performing.  It is also a good idea to do a minimum of 20 minutes of off-ice warm-ups prior to the 3 minute warm-up on the ice.  This helps the skaters to get their muscles warmed up prior to taking the ice as the warm-up time is short due to time constraints.  This is similar to competitions and test days.  At the end of all the performances, Wendy Spence from the Dorchester Signpost will be attending to take one large group picture to send to our local newspaper as well!  Skaters will also receive some brief comments about things done well and things to work on after their performances.

Certificates will be presented to each skater after his or her performance at the time that the pictures are taken for each group.

Good luck to all of our skaters, and most of all smile and have fun!
