What are bond cheques?
The entire North Dorchester Skating Club is run by volunteers. The Board of Directors, Program Assistants, Event Organizers, Music Players and many many others, are all people donating their time. It goes without saying that if it wasn’t for volunteers, the skating club would be next to impossible to run.
The principle of the bond cheque is simple...each family gives an amount to the club up front at the beginning of the season in the form of a bond. If families help by volunteering their time and fulfilled their bond requirement, then the bond cheque is returned to them at the end of the season and is not cashed. If families decide not to volunteer, then at the end of the season, their bond cheque would be cashed.
There could be cases where at the end of the season you only completed part of the bond requirement. In a situation like this, your cheque would be cashed and a cheque would be written for the difference.
Bond cheques are in place as an incentive for families to get involved.
How does the N.D.S.C. bond cheques work?
There is only 1 bond cheque required per family and it is based on the highest level program that your skater is participating in. It doesn’t matter how many skaters you have in programs, one cheque is still only required.
Please note: CanPowerskating, Learn to Skate and Adult Skating, do not require a bond cheque.

Once you know your bond requirement to work off, then it’s up to you to pick which fundraising / volunteer activity to do. Click on “Fundraising” off the menu to get information about all the different events. Each activity has a credit value attached to it and a submission form so you can easily sign up.
